My name is Julie Weathers and this is my 17th year of teaching. I spent 7 years in Simi Valley, CA teaching 1st and 2nd grade. I have been at Brown for 10 years as a classroom teacher and an intervention specialist. I am so excited to be back in the classroom teaching 2nd grade!
I have a daughter named Grace. She is a 1st grader at Brown. Although we live in Highlands Ranch, we spend a lot of time in the Highlands attending community events and enjoying the many restaurants and shops.
I was born in Littleton, CO but moved to southern California when I was 16. I received my BA in Liberal Arts and an MA in Education from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. Although I loved living in California, I have realized that Denver is the place to be.
Your child might come home with new knowledge about sports, specifically the Rockies. Grace and I attend between 20-30 games a year. She was at opening day when she was 3 months old. I have two brothers who played baseball so I think that's where my passion for the game began. I also enjoy getting outside for a run around the lake or playing at the playground with Grace. I have been able to travel to South Africa and the Caribbean in the past year. Since my boyfriend is from South Africa, we look forward to taking Grace there and giving her an international experience.
I am so excited to get to know your child. We have been working on building a safe and caring learning community in Room 106. I can't wait to see what this year has in store. As we work together, we can make this school year an amazing experience for your child. Please make sure we keep the lines of communication open.
